My Nemesis....

Have you been wondering why I haven't updated my blog lately?  Well...it's a little thing called MIGRAINES!  I have been battling with the same migraine for over a week.  It got so bad that I had to go to the hospital today.  My hands and feet were all tingly, couldn't open my eyes, etc...(I'll spare you the details).  Luckily they hooked me up to an IV and gave me some fabulous drugs to wipe the week long migraine away.  Hopefully it is gone for awhile.

Do any of you get migraines?  How do you handle them?  I could use all the hints I can get!  I will be back soon after the drugs wear off and I'm not drowsy.  I have a MILLION things to post!  I'm really excited for a Makeover Monday that is coming up, some Valentine crafts and treats!  Have a great day!

  1. Oh Summer! I am so sorry! I struggle with migraines myself, but I have never had to go to the hospital. Unfortunately I don't a great solution--most of the meds just make me really sick or react in one awful way or another. One of my triggers is red40 food coloring. I would check the things you eat (I thought that it was only in candy, but I humored my friend and started reading my labels anyway). It turns out it was in my strawberry Yoplait yogurt, my Nutrigrain bars, catalina salad dressing, and pink lemonade! Now I am sure to avoid or only eat a bit of something with red in it.
    Hope you feel better soon!

  2. My mom has gotten migrains so bad that she's gone to the hospital before. I've never had them that bad, and I cant seem to pin point what brings them on other than most times they start as a headache. I like to lay in bed (or somewhere dark and quiet with my eyes closed) with a heating pad on the back of my neck for several hours. I try and take something over the counter first. And usually the only relief I get and start feeling better is after I vomit and can sleep with the heat pad. But Ive never had a mgraine for more than a day.

  3. I have had migraines since I was 17 (thank you Chuck E Cheese) and have taken several medications over the years. The ones that I take just to keep them at bay are all OTC and all have ibuprofen, so I know you can't take them. I take Maxalt when I feel one coming on. It works within 15 minutes. I have found that my triggers are caffeine, artificial sweetners, high impact exercise and flashing lights (like strobe lights at Chuck E Cheese). I am so sorry you had to go to the hospital and I wish I was there to help you pick up where you left off. Not saying that yours does, but my house always looks like a disaster when I have a migraine. I had to call Mike home once and he found unattended children with a kitchen table full of gold fish, fruit snacks, and treats! He said, "It can't be that bad!" HA!!! Hope you find relief soon!

  4. My hubby just went through a bunch of testing all to find out that he has migraines, like pale white, sweating, vomiting migraines. No fun! He is now on a very strong prescription that he takes when he feels one coming on. He pops a pill and takes a nap then feels 100% better. Feel better soon!
